Hi friends! 2 Corinthians 2.15 reads: For we are the aroma of Christ to God among those are being saved and among those who are perishing. WOW! What a calling. The Webster's definition of aroma is a distinctly pleasant smell. I LOVE this. This verse can be interpreted a couple of different ways but for me I apply it in 2 ways: 1. I want to be a pleasing and sweet scent to God. (Let the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be pleasing to Your sight O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.-Psalm 19.14) 2. Whatever "scent" we give off to believers and non-believers is what they tie to Jesus. God's reminds me of this as a challenge. I want the feeling that people have around me to be one that is of love, joy, peace, and kindness so that in turn they may see these as the "scent" of Christ. (Let your ligh shine before others, so they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in Heaven.- Matt. 5.16). I also chose this title because of Psalm 103.15-17a: "As for man, his days are like grass; he flourishes like a flower of the field; for the wind passes over it and it is gone, and its place knows it no more. But the steadfast love of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting." Often times a sweet aroma is associated with flowers. We as man are compared to flowers in this verse showing that in the grand scheme of eternity we are but a blink of time. BUT in that blink of time God has a purpose for us. My prayer is that I will be a SWEET AROMA to my Lord and to those who encounter me, not so that they will think of me as wonderful but that it would direct them to look at Jesus who is the One that created me!
